Everybody is able to draw and paint, sculpe, dance, make music, perform, knit or whatsoever. Creativity is in everybody, maybe not always developed as much as great artists and performers Briex states. Art is a different piece of cake. But what is art, what is craftmanship and what is no art?

Art made by a talented fine art painter like Avercamp or a painting made by Congo, a chimpanzee? Art is in the eye of the beholder. Watching art, analyzing it and taking it in on your personal emotions help to better understand art. Working on an own opinion/judgment, style, the creation of an own unique signature, being inspired and inspiring people help everybody who likes to make art and to display it recognizable. Enthused by Carlos Falcó y Fernández de Córdova (1937-), marquis of Griñón who says that you'd better can see life in new future challenging projects rather than dizzling and falling asleep in memories, Nop Briex is full energy and continuosly working on his painting style, welcoming and finding interesting subjects to paint, studying great compositions, techniques and color combinations.

Nop Briex started with drawing and painting already when he was eight (1973) and followed painting training for some years at the Open Public University in Geleen. From day one it was bingo. Shortwhile he set his first steps, sometimes a bit hesitating, but soon after he picked up his enthusiasm for art and drawing-painting. His work draws the attention due to his joyfull modest bright color use and his sketchy impressionistic way of approaching a certain moment or subject. After more than 40 years development those two characteristics still form the basis of his art. Briex pronounces himself powerful without decaying into tinkering.

Nop Briex is no graphic designer and illustrator who paints. It all started with painting, due to his study choice and partly due his annoyance about less well designed aircraft paint schemes en brand packaging, graphic designing and commercial illustrating came afterwards. Or maybe to put it better that his painting career began with seeing and observing. Painting and designing are two different ways to assimilate and concrete everything what he sees around. One time on paper, the other time in paint or even digital. Designing often starts with droodles which later elaborates into perfectly performed digital productions.

The young Nop Briex - born on July 10th, 1965 in Beek under the smoke of the cokes factory Emma along the rim of the South Limburg hills - launched himself in his most beloved city Maastricht during the 1980ies. Holland's oldest city is an international meltingpot of art and culture in the Euregion Meuse-Rhine, in which he as an eupeptic artist tried to still his hunger to imagination and re-newal. In Maastricht he developed his own idea of socalled ‘Contemporay Impressionism’ (a new re-vival of Impressionism), rapidly painted art which reflects exactly the artist's emotion and impression of a particular moment. At first his paintings breathed not much ambiance, gradually, due his high production he learned to paint the right light, matching color balances and combinations. Many of his works which he regarded as 'bad' are overpainted or destroyed trashed at the local civic amenity site. With his onorthodox 'speed painting'-technique and similar personality Briex placed himself with one stone into the frontline of modern painting. Today he happily lives and works in Tilburg but his memories and dreams from the region he originates from and his travels still rule his works. Briex is yet not at all an international renowned paint artist though his beautiful quality works are more seen and recognized by collectors and connoisseurs.

Briex admires much the works of Jan Hendrik Weissenbruch, Edouard Manet, Frédéric Bazille, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot, Vincent van Gogh, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, George Hendrik Breitner, Albert Marquet, Pablo Picasso, André Lebourg, André Derain, Piet Mondriaan, Raoul Dufy, Kees van Dongen, Jan Sluijters, Rik Wouters, Francis Bacon, Jacobus Hendrik Pierneef, Willem de Kooning, David Hockney, Peter Brown, René Melenberg, Andre Pallat, Бато Дугаржапов, Ramón van der Ven, Marc Dalessio, Adebanji Alade, Hans Versfelt, Antonie van Gelder, Florin Bosinceanu, Jann Kaune and many more...
